WWE RAW Diva's Casting Special - Hot Women! Submitted
by Ryan Clark
on 07/15/2004
Thanks to Buck Woodward of PWInsider.com for the following:
Jonathan Coachman, wearing a suit, welcomed us, and immediately opened the curtain and showed us the 28 Diva Finalists, who were already in bikinis.
Edge, Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, and Triple H, all in suits, were introduced, and sat down at the foot of the runway that jetted out of the stage (heels on one side, faces on the other).
Triple H handed Coach an envelope, and four women were eliminated before Round 1 even began. So, we are down to 24 without even hearing their names.
The first round was basically each girl walking out, having a little video package shown (so we can get to know the contestants better through important questions like "where is the craziest place you ever made love"), and being told they were moving onto the next round. Unless, of course, there was no video package, and they were told by one of the judges that they were gone. Two eliminations were made that way, then they went to commercial.
Back from break, Round 1 continued. One contestant had a video package, but was eliminated anyway, so at least they are mixing things up. Gabrielle, who is currently a "Barker's Beauty" on the Price Is Right, made it to the next round, as did the pair of identical twins (there was another pair that was split up during the casting calls). They took another break, as Round 1 dragged on.
Back from break, they eliminated the one that sang opera at the casting call. After Round 1, we were down to 20 contestants. Jonathan Coachman then brought out Moolah & Mae Young (who thankfully wore one-piece swimsuits). Moolah and Mae went to the babyface side, passing by Edge (who had his arms outstretched) so they could hug and kiss Jericho. Jericho acted like he was loving it, as they went to break.
Note from Buck: I just found out this show is going on until 11:30. Ninety minutes for this stuff? They're not even making the girls do anything. They're not dancing, they're not bobbing for apples, nothing. Hell, I'm hoping Eugene shows up and makes them play musical chairs at this point.
Round 2 was called the "personality portion" of the contest. A contestant would come out on the stage, a judge would ask a silly or innuendo-laced question or task, and after answering, the contestant would be told if they were moving on to Round 3 or not. One contestant was told to sell a T-Shirt in 15 seconds. The contestant rubbed the shirt on her breast, and sold the shirt to a fan for twenty bucks. Orton told her the shirt was worth $25 and told her she was eliminated. That was probably the highlight of the show. Then they went to break.
For those that care about such things, it was very obvious that the eliminations in this round were predetermined (I know, shocking, right?). Girls that couldn't answer the question they were asked or perform the task given were sent on to the next round regardless.
Back from commercial, Round 2 continued. Wow, this is a really stupid show. I'm thinking of watching Heroes Of Wrestling after this. Chris Jericho made one girl do jumping jacks. I guess that is the new Highlight Of The Night. Four more girls have been eliminated, for those who still care. Round 2 is over, with 16 girls left. Another commercial.
Back from the final break, the remaining contestants were on the stage. Coach walked up and down the line, and told 10 of the girls they made it, and six of them that they didn't. Someone yelled out "You suck Coach". That was funny. The crowd booed one of the eliminations and started chanting "You f***** up". Another elimination that the crowd didn't agree with got a "Bulls***" chant.
Triple H asked the girls to jump up and down in celebration more as Coach finished up.
That gave us our final ten, which included the identical twins, who will appear on Raw Monday.
The judges, totally ignoring silly things like storylines, got up on stage together and hugged the ten finalists.
A video package ended the show, followed by an "encore" of Moolah and Mae dancing with Coach.
